We are delighted to announce that Link CCTV Systems has been awarded two further ISO accreditations to complement our existing ISO 9001. Link can now boast a UKAS-approved Integrated Management System, demonstrating to our clients and customers a principled, focussed business underpinned by integrity.
Through a rigorous audit process, which involved both a comprehensive site and office visit, Link secured both ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.
What is ISO 14001?
ISO 14001 is the globally recognised international standard for environmental management systems (EMS) and the most widely used EMS in the world, with over 360,000 ISO 14001 certificates issued to-date.
ISO 14001 is the principal management system standard which specifies the requirements for the formulation and maintenance of an EMS. This helps to control a company’s environmental aspects, reduce impacts and ensure legal compliance.
What is ISO 45001?
ISO 45001 is the world’s international standard for occupational health and safety, issued to protect employees, visitors and members of the public from work-related accidents and diseases.
ISO 45001 certification was developed to mitigate any factors that can cause employees and businesses irreparable harm and reputational damage. Its standards are the result of great effort by a committee of health and safety management experts who looked closely at a number of other approaches to system management — including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. In addition, ISO 45001 was designed to take other existing occupational health and safety standards, such as OHSAS 18001, into account — as well as the United Nations International Labour Organisation’s (ILO) labour standards, conventions and safety guidelines.
How Link CCTV Systems achieved these accreditations
Link CCTV Systems sought ISO 14001 certification in response to the increasing pressures placed on businesses to reduce environmental impact. Working hand-in-hand with our customers and clients, the new systems that have been put in place will ensure Link continues to comply with all current and future legislation, while increasing efficiency relating to resources, waste and energy management.
Link already have measures in place to calculate carbon emissions produced throughout the company, and with this mind, have identified a number of solutions to counteract this. These include such things as planting indigenous trees and promoting the establishment of wild gardens.
Link have installed birdboxes outside their offices and have volunteered to clean up and maintain a local authority pond in the vicinity, for the benefit of the local community. Link CCTV is passionate about promoting activities to encourage sustainability commensurate within our Corporate Social Responsibility framework. To this end, Members of the Link team are have also taking part in the “Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge” to help raise vital monies on behalf of the British Heart Foundation.
The ISO 45001 certification places a significant focus on health and safety, looking at the potential hazards and risks associated with company activities and how best to eliminate them or minimise their effect. These processes also ensure Link CCTV Systems can respond more efficiently to changes in regulatory compliance, helping to reduce the overall cost of any incidents and associated downtime.
At Link CCTV Systems, we are incredibly proud to attain these accreditations, which took many months of preparation, commitment and hard work. Credit for the successful outcome of the audit can be attributed to our Compliance Manager, Lloyd Briscoe, and Rebecca Russell of Stepping Stones for Business Ltd, which ably demonstrates the diligence of their work.
